Penetrating Urhoho

Scorpion GuardIt has been a commonly held belief that the Scorpion Guard’s sector of Urhoho is one of the best defended sectors in the universe. Hidden behind several layers of military outposts, the Guard has gone about their business in security. Outside those walls, the Guard has been collecting the ire of several relatively new, but well experienced alliances.

The ire came to a head for Gorath last week. The Federation’s most respected pilot had had enough and decided it was time to put an end to the Guard’s security. He had the skills, he had the money, and he had the ship to do it with. He was confident and for good reason. He had an edge. The Federation had designed an experimental laser – a laser capable of immense damage over short periods of time – and they had asked their most respected pilot if he wanted to try it out. Capable of delivering massive amounts of damage in short amounts of time, Gorath agreed despite the fact that side effects were unknown. He had the perfect targets to try it out on.

Using his money to buy drugs (and lots of them), Gorath entered the Usube sector with a mission. To single-handedly smash through the Guard’s Military Outposts and exact revenge on the Guard for everything they believed in.

And so it began.

Urhoho Hit!In record time, Gorath smashed through the Usube wall, entered Urhoho, smashed through the relatively less defended Urhoho wall, and entered Urhoho space. Surprise was on Gorath’s side and he had a field day with his new weapon, fending and killing off members of the Guard, PACK, and Ruby Legion. The new super weapon in the hands of a skilled pilot was nearly impossible to stop and the drugs that he’d raided within SG space allowed him to continue for longer than was normal. The rampage he had behind SG lines was BRUTAL with Gorath either killing or repelling well over a dozen attacks. At this point, Gorath announced his intrusion (as if the news wasn’t enough of an announcement) and invited everyone who had issues with the Guard to come join the party.

As an aside, this attack could have been devastating to the Guard if it had been better coordinated with fellow Fed Fighters or other groups having grievances against them (EA for instance). As it was, friends and foes alike were surprised by the attack and both sides had to jump into make the most of the situation.

It was about this time that the Federation discovered a monstrous flaw in their newly designed weapon. Used for even short periods of time, the experimental laser would drive the user insane. Federation officials quickly warned Gorath of the potential for harm in using the new equipment. Officials hoped he would heed the warning.

So there was officially an opening in the Scorpion Guard wall. Both sides had objectives. The aggressors wanted to get into SG space and do as much damage as possible whether it be destroying/raiding buildings or killing anybody with a SG on them. The Guard, on the other hand, had to close the hole, fortify the newly placed defenses, and then clear SG space of any enemy fighters that might have managed to get in.

dipstickAs it worked out, SG had the time advantage on their side. While attackers had to travel to Usube and Urhoho to begin attacks, SG was mostly already there. The Scorpion Guard was able to relatively quickly re-establish and rearm the MO’s in Usube. A trickle of fighters had managed to infiltrate SG space and inflict some damage before the outposts were erected and inflict some damage, but the Guard was able to minimize additional major damage through quick action. Those fighters caught behind the lines were eventually caught and sent home. One entertaining bit was when a pilot Dipstick got caught between MO walls. He was labeled an SG pet or mascot for a day or so before SG felt he was rabid and had to put him down.

Roughly a day after the initial attack, the unthinkable happened. Gorath hadn’t listened to the advice of Federation scientists and his warped mind saw a nearby star as the biggest and baddest Scorpion Guard ship ever seen. He was determined to take it down by any means necessary and flew his ship in to meet this new enemy. He hasn’t been heard from since.

Well, the loss of Gorath was tough on the group trying to break back in to Urhoho. The groups, mainly fighters of EA and FF, tried to break back in, but were repulsed more than once. Scorpion Guard and friends, on the other hand, left the safety of Urhoho and began sniping pilots in the Usube area with high efficiency. They took a few losses, including the embarrassing loss of their leader due to a miscalculation, but for the most part gave more than they received.

It seems the Scorpion Guard has battled the war back to a stalemate in the Usube sector. This is about as good as the Guard can do until attackers tire from the hunt and try again some other time. It will definitely be interesting to see what happens in the future between these groups.

Clearing the Den in Wayaan

Qunito ImperioThere are several military officers at the Qunito Imperio organization who were tossed out of airlocks earlier this week after they fell asleep at the comm. and allowed members of Extinction Agenda into the protected areas of Wayaan space. Using the dragon den of Wayaan as their own protected illegal production facilities, QI had indicated last week that they would become the biggest drug manufacturers in Fed space. The arrival of Ultimate and Fiona into QI space put a bit of a damper on the proceedings there. Ultimate proceeded to raid as many buildings as possible (mostly drug labs), while Fiona proceeded to collect bounties on QI bountied pilots sitting in open space (mistakenly thinking they were protected by the outposts). Needless to say, the QI security checks will likely go under serious security in the upcoming weeks.

The Federation Battle Trainer Introduced

FBT

Introduced to the public this week by Catliver, the Federation Battle Trainer (FBT), is a tool used by Federation pilots to better acclimate themselves to piloting the vast dangers of space. By making pilots pass through the FBT before sent out into space, the mortality rate has dropped by nearly half as stupid pilot mistakes are avoided. The program worked so well that Imperial officials noted the difference and attempted to replicate the process in Imperial space. Unfortunately, the Imperial attempt was severely botched and mortality rate actually increased after the introduction of the program in Imperial space. The Imperials had to resort to stealing a copy and reverse engineering the Federation copy to get a positive result out of the program. Only then did mortality rates decrease a bit.

The Eliminated

The Eliminator decided he was going to raid building defenses this week. Unfortunately for him, the attacks didn’t go quite as well as expected with him being sent home three times consecutively. Just an FYI to everyone out there, if you die three times doing the same thing, you’re likely doing something wrong. Figure it out, and try again some time later.

Drug Dealers Cutting Costs

DrugsDrug dealers around the universe have begun selling less pure drugs here recently in an attempt to maximize their profits. The result is that while initial uses of drugs have an increased effect, continued use of the drug decreases with the amount of drugs taken. However, the addiction wears off rather quickly, so short repeated uses of the drug can be rather beneficial whereas extreme uses of drugs will have much lessened effects compared to what traders were previously accustomed to. Be sure to watch for this in future dealings with your dealers.
