Coordinating Conglomo

Conglomo

So what’s it take to avert a meteor strike? Just ask the alliance of Conglomo. The potential for a meteor strike in the sector of Greandin a few weeks ago pulled the alliance together to avert a true disaster. A tractor beam was being designed and tons upon tons of rads, optics, electronics and energy were needed to build it. Conglomo quickly pulled resources form surrounding sectors to obtain the 180 tons of rads, 200 tons of optics, and 80 tons of electronics. These were pulled in relatively short order. The 10,000 TONS of energy however, took a bit more effort for local traders but within days of the announcement, the materials had been obtained and the tractor beam built, tested, and ready for the asteroid.

Rumor has it that the Congolomo party afterwards was something to behold. The video footage I’ve been watching here makes me believe it.

Epidemic on Rashkan

Bad IntestinesThe Rashkir homeworld of Rashkan was the site of an epidemic this week. It seems that a bad batch of human intestines found its way into the sector and onto the planet. A local merchant, thinking he’d just found a gold mine, began serving intestines as a delicacy to the Rashkin population. Unfortunately, the intestine spawned some type of communicable disease that spread quickly throughout the Rashkan population. Effects of the disease were such that it swelled the joints of the arms and legs to the point where they couldn’t be bent. Infected figures hobbled around as is they had casts over their arms and legs. Untreated, the disease was sometimes fatal.

Doctors from across Rashkir territories were sent to Rashkan to help isolate and find a cure for the disease. But of course, doctors were not the only things needed. Medical supplies were needed as well. Tons of supplies. Tons and tons of supplies. Let’s hope that traders are able to get supplies there and fast. It would be a shame if that disease were ale to spread to other Rashkir planets.

Lahola Avenue

Drug LabJust north of Empire space lies the South Pardus Rim. A newly discovered portion of the neutral zone, the sectors here are a bit more unruly than typical zones with many more nooks and crannies than other sectors. Places to hide, places to work, places to perform acts of less… legal nature. And such was the case with one Keldor Polon.

Now the neutral zone in general isn’t the safest place to setup shop. And when in the neutral zone without any real support (i.e. unaligned) you only have one person to count on. But the South Pardus Rim creates opportunities and Keldon took the opportunity to setup a drug production facility safely behind a single military outpost in the sector of Lahola.

However, his situation there seemed not to go unnoticed. It seems he attracted the attention of several different alliances that didn’t exactly want him there. And so the attacks began. Members of TPI, XA, IOP, EA, and Sadist Faction assaulted the installation in an attempt to penetrate and destroy the lab that was seen behind it. Several days and several deaths later, in what was possibly a fluke, members were able to sneak by/through the MO and destroy Keldor and his drug lab behind there.

While the motives of TPI were obvious, it’s rather curious what the motives of the other organizations were to this particular person and/or location. However, it seems the attacks were too much stress for Keldor, as he suicided shortly thereafter.

The Guilded

Rumor has had it for quite some time that the sector of Edbeeth held a bit more than just Guild properties. With the Guild’s policy of not allowing anybody into the sector outside of Guild members, it was difficult to prove that something was in the sector, but easy to speculate that the Guild was hiding something.

Selected individuals from The Shadow Order and Ruby Legion demanded entrance to Edbeeth to verify the situation for themselves. They were denied entrance. The Guild was given a timeline as to when RL and TSO would wait which looks to have given Guild and Pirate leaders time to prepare for the impending attack. The deadline day came and went with no action happening.

A few days later, Alexm tested the strength of the Guild’s defenses – likely to determine what and how many pilots were needed to get through. Members of the Scorpion Guard began showing up and ambushing Guild pilots in the area. Ruby Legion and TSO pilots were spotted throughout the Olphize area.

Finally the day came. A fleet of Ruby Legion, TSO, and SG ships showed up on the doorsteps of Edbeeth and began knocking. And knocking hard. While the initial attacks went on as expected, the problems arose when Guild fighters began to show up to held defend the MO.

The Guild

As far as wars go, this was rather interesting. With so many neutral members and allies, it was difficult to keep track of who was friend to whom. Often attackers didn’t realize that someone was an enemy until they began shooting at you. Ambushes were tripped left and right and the definition to ‘chaos of war’ really took heart in this attack.

One of the attacking participants described the scene as something like this:

  1. attack the MO,
  2. fix your ship,
  3. attack the MO,
  4. run from warbird/eddy,
  5. fix your ship,
  6. trip a ambush,
  7. fix your ship,

Rinse and repeat.

Now obviously, this situation changed depending on the fighter, experience, etc, etc, but the fact remained that, well, let’s just say I didn’t make water runs to Olphize that day.

Like all MO’s, as soon as the initial few Avengers were stripped off the military outpost, the attack became easier and easier, allowing more and more less skilled fighters to do their part in hitting the MO. Finally, the MO was taken down by Lady Aliara, allowing SG, RL, and TSO access to the Guild and Pirate space.

Many in Edbeeth, for fear of being tracked or ambushed on their buildings destroyed their buildings as they sector was entered. For the next few days, ambushes were placed all around the Olphize area making it rather…unsafe for most pilots but the situation seems to have calmed down for the time being.

When all is said and done, TSO, RL, and SG were the clear victors in this encounter. This reporter is very curious to see what the Guild’s next move is.
