The Grand Opening (by Hitman)

The Pardusian universe has expanded

New Neutral Zone

We thank our craft full researchers that have managed to stabilize several wormholes to a degree where the Pardusian inhabitants may travel through them. You have brought us more territory to squabble over and we are thankful for you’re efforts.

At the 21 of May several wormholes was stabilized through the effort of hundreds of federation scientists that have worked hard over an extended period of time. Two standard wormholes and one x-hole have so far been attuned for travel. The standard holes opened up lies in the federation sector PJ 3373 and in the neutral sector Olphize. The x-hole appeared in the old cut of sector Kataam when the former standard holes to the sector were retuned.

X HoleThe x-hole connects two sectors that normally lie far apart from each other, in this specific case Nex Kataam is connected to Nex 0002. Apparently the federation scientists have not been able to completely stabilize the x-hole since a trip through it will consume about 2000 turns depending on the pilots skill. This amount doesn’t differ overly with the travel cost for a normal trip from Nex Kataam to Nex 0002. Hopefully in the near future our persistent scientists will be able to refine the x-hole in order to diminish the travel cost transforming the x-hole into the asset it has potential to become. According to a press release from the scientific department responsible for the stabilization process they will probably manage to stabilize more x-holes in the future.

Alliance Movements

After a slow start at the beginning with only some minor migration to the new sectors the week seems to end with an escalating race to settle the remaining premium sectors. According to the news a lot of MO’s came online during the end of the week.

The first emigrants all seems to have shared a common dream, to one day become a Star Base owner. At the day of the grand opening plenty of TO’s was built all over the sectors and in the end of the week a lot of those were rebuilt into Star Bases.

The first Alliances to settle in the expanded Neutral Zone where the Coldiz and Ruby Legions sealing of two sectors, lets hope that the Ruby Legion dosen’t spread themselves out to thinly. Later in the week an unknown alliance also started sealing of parts of the Dayaa sector.

Military OutpostsIn the new Federation sectors Red cell claimed and sealed off Capella and Nebul, in order to do so they had to raise 12 MO’s which will surely put a hampering effect on the Alliance economic development. A new alliance the ORB (Organisation of Ruling Bodies) claimed Epsilon Indi and Phekda as theirs.

Due to the expansion there has been some turmoil in the old established sectors. The Freeholders Alliance and Triad have set up a new common alliance. The Lord Reaver announced the forming of the Imperium of the Shining night and proclaimed himself Emperor of the Neutral Zone. At the same time the Grand Unifying Alliance has started closing of sectors in the Neutral zone clearly defying the new Emperor. Tree additional alliances was also created during the week the Stuffz little is know about them, the Sadist Faction has so far joined force with the Ruby Legion and the Sindarin Trade Society settled in Grefaho.

TPI – The Aftermath (by Anonymous)

As the aftermath of the TPI invasion settled in the Keldon sectors, the allies returned to their respective domains to return to normal routines. But one alliance has been left scarred.

TechnocracyThe Technocracy, a group governed by a collective mind of all its symbiotic organisms, has suffered a huge loss as a breakdown in their assimilation technology has produced a breakaway. The military wing, known as Iteration X (IX), has left the collective with no major defence capabilities, and reports of pirates heading towards the sector are becoming more and more frequent.

The breakaway group, to be known as the Sadist Faction, has allegedly long fled Keldon space, apparently heading near to the Ska’ari capital sector of Skaara. Their welcome there will apparently be quite warm due to ties with the Ruby Legion.

With the Tech holding the main planets of Keldana I and Keldana II, any major shift in the power over the area could have catastrophic consequences across the Keldon Sectors. The governing minds of the collective are already having trouble, as telerobbers have become more active without the threat of military action, and are hurriedly piecing together a new military section.

As I walked among the streets of Keldana I this week, I couldn’t help but notice the tension that the breakaway has produced. From stores to halls, citizens seemed to always be looking over their shoulder. During a chat with a tavern owner, he offered only bitterness towards the rogues and whispered of plans that mercenaries, including the feared Scorpion Guard, may have been hired to bring the rogue unit in for re-assimilation.

This seemed to mere hearsay till it was reported by GNN that Velhad (SG and TPI crusader) had fought and defeated Lenderz (member of Sadist Faction). Although, SG have keep their clients anonymous, it seems fair to assume that the Tech have not taken this abandonment lightly.

The Secret Building (by Hitman)

Hidden LabAs most other Pardus residents I was eagerly awaiting the stabilization of the new wormholes. We had all heard the rumors about the new secret laboratories that were supposed to be located in the adjunct sectors to the neutral zone.

After the wormhole in Olphize stabilized many of the Pardusian inhabitants have traveled through it searching for the secrets laboratories in order to get a glimpse of the latest equipment, only to be rebuffed at the entrance since they wasn’t naughty enough. Apparently only the more immoral residents may gain entrance into the secret laboratory. According to one of the Tribunes sources the economic power backing the research laboratory wants to keep the knowledge about these new devices in the family so to say.

Since the group of people that has access to the information is somewhat unscrupulous it was rather easy to find someone willingly to trade information on the new equipment in exchange for money.

Apparently two devices has so far reached the production stage and are available to the market, the first one is the cloaking enchantment device earlier mentioned in the Tribune. This device increase the chance of successfully cloaking any ship that it is mounted on. Our source managed to supply a description of the standard device, sadly enough he couldn’t get hold of a description on the improved cloaking device that shall increase the cloaking chance even more.

Cloaking Device
Space : 2t
Sell: ———
Buy: ———
Increases successful cloaking. Cloak Bonus: 25%
This item is outlawed in Federation and Empire.

The second piece of equipment is a rather small apparatus that creates a dampening field that somewhat reduces damage. The dampening field isn’t strong enough to protect the ship itself only the onboard equipment to some extent, a more detailed description was not available.

Rumor has it that the sale of the new equipment hasn’t met the expectations of the investors.

DOW Announcement

The Divine Order of the Weasel are pleased to announce that following it’s alignment with the Federation the Federal government has released documents that show prior to the opening of the new sectors they sent ships to search for Weasel forces.

Many sceptics have said that this was just to prove the weasels don’t exist but we are certain that this is not the case as the reconnaissance mission consisted of over twenty Doomstars and a dozen Gauntlets and you would not send that sort of force to look for something that wasn’t there.

We have been promised further communication from the Federal government in the following weeks concerning their position regarding the weasel threat.

Having trouble staying awake while you trade? Those food/water/energy runs just not quite as exciting as they used to be? Is the excitement for the day the blinking light that reminds you to buckle your seatbelt? If the answer to these questions is no, then forget you. Go away. If the answer is not just yes, but YES! then we are looking for you. The Center for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence is looking for willing volunteers to participate in a ‘study’ whereupon artificial intelligence is imposed on top of a person’s persona in an effort to more fully develop artificial intelligence through experience. The procedure is extremely painful and not certified by any public authority. The mortality rate is 80% in the first 24 hours, with another 10% for any surviving 24 hours. However, the true survivors are in for a treat! They get to spend the rest of their lives in a battle of wills with a never resting AI over control of your body! Now how is THAT for excitement?!? Those interested please call the CAAI – code 777 - and ask for operator HAL.

Did you know…

That the beaches of Tiacken I are beautiful this time of year?

That for a mere 100 credits, you can get one of the scantily clad locals to….uh, nevermind.

That even the lightest touch of a local Tiackenian jellyfish can paralyze your arm for up to 36 hours?

Residents of Tiacken:

The day is approaching. The day when you stand up to the threat and are able to drag one Nathan Forester through the streets like the dog he is. Never give up hope. The Shadow might think they’ve conquered you, but it is just a matter of time. Each day that passes is a day closer to freedom, to rejoicing, to the end of tyranny. I will be there when that day arrives. I will be there at the victory celebration culminating with the executions of the OSN. I can see it now….

Flee now OSN while you still have your head attached to your body.

A Tiacken victory is inevitable.
